Lawmaker harps on peaceful coexistence of Ondo residents

The lawmaker representing Akoko southeast/southwest federal constituency of Ondo state in the House of Representatives, Mr Ade Adeogun has urged youth and residents of the state to live peacefully, irrespective of tribal or ethnic background.

Adeogun, who doubles as the deputy chairman of the house committee on national security and intelligence said this in a statement released in Abuja.

The lawmaker was reacting to a video viral on the social media, where someone outside the country called for the eviction of non-Yorubas from the south west zone of the country.

Adeogun explains that indegenes have lived with other ethnic groups like Igbiras, Urhobos, Ibos, Hausas and others for decades.

He insists that the non-Yoruba people have become part of the region and have contributed to the development of host communities.

Adeogun commends Governor Rotimi Akeredolu over steps taken to safeguard lives and properties and restore peace in areas where there were outbreaks of violence.
