Ladi Bala emerges NAWOJ President

Ladi Bala has emerged the President of Nigeria Women Journalists (NAWOJ) in the just concluded election.

Mrs. Bala who is a staff of Nigeria Television Authority, Adamawa state polled 439 to defeat her opponents Aishat da’aratu, Lucy chindaba and Abubakar Ruth.

While announcing the results, returning officer, Ezeogo Boniface Okoro declared Bala the winner of the election.

In her acceptance speech, the NAWOJ president, Ladi Bala promised to embark on capacity building of women journalists across the federation.

Other exco members elected are Lilian Ogbabu as deputy vice president, Helen Udofia as secretary and Fatima Rasheed as treasurer.

Also, Adeola Adekunle from Adaba FM emerged financial secretary of the association at the national level unopposed.

Earlier, during the 10th triennial delegate conference 2020 held at Minna, the outgone NAWOJ president, Mrs. Ifeyinwa Omowole appreciated the support of members throughout her tenure.

On his part, The host governor, Abubakar Sani Bello commended women journalists for the role they played in championing the course of the girl child.

He promised continuous support to the association at all times.

Women journalists delegates across the 36 states and Fct voted in the election held in Minna.

Meanwhile, the newly elected exco of the Nigerian women journalists have taken the oath of office.
