Joy on the Streets: Ekiti Sweepers Hail Governor Oyebanji for Tripling Allowance
Street sweepers across Ekiti State gathered at the headquarters of the Ekiti State Waste Management Authority in Ado-Ekiti to express their gratitude to Governor Biodun Oyebanji for increasing their monthly allowance from ₦12,000 to ₦35,000.
The sweepers, carrying placards with messages such as “BAO is our own”, “Gomina Oloju Anu”, and “BAO Gomina Dada”, sang songs in appreciation of what they described as a kind and inclusive gesture by the governor.
Mrs. Yemisi Ogundele and the General Supervisor, Mr. Joseph Olufemi, who spoke on behalf of others, praised Governor Oyebanji for his commitment to the welfare of all Ekiti residents, regardless of their social or economic status.
They pledged to intensify efforts in keeping the state clean and prevent the outbreak of disease.
Earlier, the Director General of the Ekiti State Waste Management Authority, Mr. Sunkanmi Onipede, addressed the sweepers, reaffirming the governor’s goodwill and describing the allowance increase as just the beginning of more benefits to come.
He encouraged workers to remain diligent and dedicate, warning that laziness would not be tolerated.
The sweepers used the forum to endorse Governor Oyebanji for second term in office due his outstanding performances in all sectors of Economyliance and data protection.
