Jeremy Corbyn: ‘A No-Deal Brexit is really a Trump Deal Brexit’
The Labour Party leader, Jeremy Corbyn has claimed that a no-deal Brexit would leave the UK at the mercy of US president Donald Trump.
He accused the prime minister of cosying up to Trump because “no-deal Brexit is really a Trump-deal Brexit”.
On Monday, prime minister Boris Johnson said he was marginally more optimistic about striking a new Brexit deal with the EU.
Mr Corbyn is due to meet other party leaders on Tuesday to discuss his plans to avert a no-deal Brexit.
The Labour leader wants to call a vote of no confidence in Mr Johnson’s government when parliament returns after its summer recess.
Mr Corbyn hopes to take over as a temporary prime minister, seek an extension to Britain’s 31 October EU departure date in order to avert a no-deal exit, and then call a general election.
