India overtakes Brazil to become second COVID-19 worst- hit country

India now has the world’s second-highest number of coronavirus cases.

After overtaking Brazil earlier today, India is now second to only the US which has the highest number of cases in the world.

Only five of India’s states are responsible for more than half the country’s COVID-19 caseload of 4.2 million.

The five states Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Uttar Pradesh – also have the highest number of active cases.
