Gunmen injure Bauchi Auditor-General, abduct son, friend
Gunmen have shot the Bauchi state auditor-general, Alhaji Abdu Aliyu after a failed abduction attempt.
His 25-year-old son and a fifty-year-old man who were said to have been travelling along with him were kidnapped.
The Bauchi state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ahmed Wakili said the incident happened along Kardam village of Tafawa Balewa local government area.
Wakili said the auditor-general’s vehicle appeared to have been trailed while on his way to his village in Tafawa Balewa local government area by gunmen who opened fire on the vehicle and shot the auditor-general at close range after he resisted kidnap.
He was rushed to the general hospital in Tafawa Balewa by passers-by and later transferred to the Trauma center in Abubakar Tafawa Balewa university teaching hospital.
The police said efforts are underway to rescue the victims and arrest perpetrators.
