Gunmen attack leaves 8 dead in Kabul
At least 8 people have been killed after militants attacked the home of Afghanistan defence minister, Bismillah Khan Mohammadi in Kabul.
Mohammadi was not at home when gunmen detonated a car bomb and fired shots near the heavily-fortified Green Zone.
His family was safely evacuated and the gunmen killed in the attack.
The Taliban said it was behind the attack.
The group also warned of more attacks against government leaders.
This comes as fighting rages in other cities after foreign troops left the country.
The UN Security Council has called for an immediate end to the violence.
