Group tasks National Assembly on public scrutiny of Petroleum Industry Bill

A group, under the Agies of Coalition of Public Interests Lawyers and Advocates, has called on the national assembly to subject the Petroleum Industry Bill 2020 (PIB) to thorough and critical public scrutiny before passage.

The group’s chairman on the review of the PIB, Olufemi Franklin made this call in Abuja on Friday.

Franklin explained that the outcome of his committee’s research showed that there are some shortfalls in the bill which may compromise government efforts if not properly addressed before the bill is passed.

The group noted that it has forwarded a document titled memorandum on petroleum industry bill 2020 on it’s research, observations and recommendations on the PIB to all the stakehokders in the industry.
