Gabon president fires vice, forestry minister

In Gabon, the presidency has dismissed Vice President, Pierre Claver Maganga Moussavou and Minister of State for Forests and Environment, Guy-Bertrand Mapangou.

They were relieved of their posts by presidential decree in connection with a timber scandal that rocked the central African country.

Both were dismissed in a government statement posted on social media.

The decree formed part of a reshuffle by President Ali Bongo and announced late Tuesday by Secretary General at the presidency, Jean Yves Teale.
