FUTA students protest over incessant robbery, block Akure/Ilesa express road
The students body of Federal University of Technology Akure (FUTA) has called on government to interfere in the issue of incessant robbery attacks on students that are living off campus.
The students trooped out in numbers on Monday morning to protest against the ordeal as the Akure/Ilesa express road was blocked, leaving passengers stranded on the road.
FUTA students union president, Comrade Jesunifemi Asore Tenten said several calls have been made to concerned bodies to rescue the situation that has turned to daily routine at FUTA NORTH and SOUTH gates.
On his part, National Association of Nigeria Students, Ondo State Chapter Secretary General, Comrade Cyprel Niyedi said victims are being used to carry stolen items to the points of no return.
Ondo state police public relations officer, Mrs. Funmilayo Odunlami confirmed the reports of the attacks.
She said all hands are on deck to put such attacks to a stop.
