Fire eruption kills traders in Rivers

Another massive fire that erupted at the Nembe–Bonny- Bille jetty in Port Harcourt, barely 25 hours after an explosion rocked an illegal oil dumpsite in Rumuokoro axis of Obio-Akpor local government area of Rivers state.

The fire had consumed over six market boats with passengers trapped in it.

Eyewitnesses said the boats were landing and offloading at the jetty when the fire suddenly erupted and killed a woman and three of her children who were on board.

Although, the cause of the fire eruption has not being confirmed but onlookers suspected that a careless smoker may have thrown unspent cigarette into the boat.

This current fire incident is the fifth fire incident in the state since the start of the weekend.
