Festival Celebration: Ondo govt bans unapproved closure of market

Ondo State government has vowed that it will no longer tolerate closure of markets and shops during traditional festivals without approval.

Commissioner for information and orientation Bamidele Ademola-Olateju stated this after the state Executive Council Meeting in Akure.

Mrs Olateju noted that if such approval is given, it will not applicable to residential areas but markets and shops around the Obas palace.

She said that the decision was taken to checkmate violence and other unlawful behavior during festivals.

Olateju informed that government has upgraded some Traditional rulers in the state.

Attoney-General and for commissioner for justice, Charles Titiloye explained that government will review the Traditional and Chieftaincy law of the state to avert lawlessness during selection.
