Federal government files fresh charges against former attorney general, Mohammed Adoke

The federal government has filed fresh charges against a former Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF) and minister of justice, Mohammed Adoke.

Adoke was arraigned before justice Binta Nyako of the federal high court sitting in Abuja.

He is being charged along with his co-defendant, Aliyu Abubakar, on six counts bordering on money laundering and criminal diversion of funds in the Malabo oil deal.

Abubakar was accused of paying dollar equivalent of N300m to Adoke’s account in September 2013 thereby violating the money laundering act.

The defendants pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The EFCC counsel, Bala Sanga, urged the court to remand the defendants in the commission’s custody pending the hearing of the matter.
