Fanibi residents protest two weeks power outage

Residents of Fanibi area of Akure have protested non availability of electricity for over two weeks.

They blamed the blackout on the Benin Electricity Distribution Company (BEDC).

The protesters blocked the entrance to Fanibi through champion junction to airways area where BEDC is situated.

It took the intervention of police personnel to dislodge the crowd after three hours of peaceful demonstration.

The Fanibi residents alleged BEDC officials of removing the cables that powered their community.

Landlords association and other community leaders later held a meeting with the BEDC officials.

Meanwhile BEDC officials have promised to fix the light in no distant time.
