FAAN shuts Gombe, Kebbi airports over debts
The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has withdrawn its aviation security and aerodrome rescue and fire fighting personnel from Gombe and Kebbi airports over 732 million Naira debt.
General manager, corporate affairs, FAAN, Mrs. Henrietta Yakubu briefed newsmen on the development in Lagos.
She said the withdrawal of FAAN services from both airports which had technically grounded flight operations took effect from May the first.
FAAN revealed that Gombe airport, owned by the state government owes 607.9 million Naira while Kebbi airport owes 124.5 million Naira.
The agency said it took the decision since such development had adverse effect on its operations.
