Ekiti vows to prioritize art And Culture

The Ekiti State government has promised to continue in its quest to make the interest of art and culture a priority in the state.

This is coming just as the Ekiti State Council of Art and Culture plans for a festival of art and culture in December the 10th to 12th this year.

The State Commissioner for Art, Culture and Tourism, Prof. Rasaq Ojo Bakare who briefed newsmen on the development in Ado Ekiti, noted that the 2020 edition of the festival would be held in total compliance with the Covid-19 safety precautionary measures.

Bakare explained that the event of this year will begin with the exhibition of art works, such as folklore, tagged; ”Itan-Arugbo” which he said was the initiative of the first lady of the state, Erelu Bisi Fayemi.

He regretted that little or no attention was paid by the past administration into productive engagement of artisans, adding that the situation had a frustrating effect on the entire creative workforce of the state.

Prof. Bakare However said that the Ekiti State ministry of Arts, Culture and Tourism would continue to justify the Investment and budgetary commitment of the state government by placing the State on the global map.
