Ekiti Set to Enforce Land Use Charge
The governor of Ekiti State, Biodun Oyebanji, has announced that government will start collecting a land use charge from the residents of the state by the beginning of next year.
Oyebanji announced this at a prayer meeting organized for the governor by the Nigeria Union of Pensioners in Ekiti State.
Oyebanji, who noted that the state’s internally generated revenue had increased without putting pressure on the citizens, emphasized more on the need for citizens to continue paying their taxes so as to contribute to the development of the state.
The governor expressed that civil servants in the state are the major tax payers, hence the need for the introduction of charges on land users.
He noted that there is a law in place that will guide the government in collecting the revenue.
