Ekiti residents protest against monarch over illegal sales of Land
Some residents of Kajola area of Ipoti-Ekiti in Ijero Local Government Area of Ekiti State have Staged a peaceful protest at the Governor’s office in Ado-Ekiti against the monarch of the town, Oba Oladipupo Kolade.
The protester stormed the Governor’s office over alleged illegal sales of their land.
Armed with placards of various inscriptions such as; call Oba Kolade to order now, we will defend our inherentrance, Oba Kolade should stop illegal invasion of our lands among others.
Elder Oladele Ayeni who is the spokesperson of the protesting group told newsmen that they were at the Governor’s office to inform the Governor of what he described as contemptuous trespass on their land by the traditional ruler.
He appealed to the State Governor to prevail on the monarch, adding that the traditional ruler has failed to obey the court order on the matter.
When contacted on a telephone interview, Oba Oladipupo Kolade described the allegations as baseless and unfounded, adding that the land belonged to his ancestors
The embattled traditional ruler however expressed his readiness to meet the Governor on invitation at any point in time.
