Ekiti panel assures petitioners of fair hearing during proceedings
The chairman, judicial panel of inquiry into the allegations of police brutality and EndSARS protest in Ekiti state, retired Justice Cornelius Akintayo has called on petitioners to include the addresses of the accused when forwarding their petitions.
Justice Akintayo made the call in ado Ekiti during the listing of cases of allegations of human rights violations.
He said such move would enable the panelists establish a fair hearing during its proceedings.
The panel received about 22 petitions and fixed dates for hearing of the cases.
Some of the cases listed for hearing include; Oluwole Edwards vs SARS official, Adebayo Akeem against Nigeria army, Adewale Temitope vs a police officer, Sunday Oladele, Jayeoba Olugbenga against constable Usman Moses.
Justice Akintayo said all petitions would be attended to, without sentiments or external influence.
He also tasked the public on accuracy in their petitions.
Meanwhile, the ministry of interior has denied reports in the media, that it was compiling the names of EndSARS protesters on a no-fly list.
A statement by the ministry, notes that contrary to the reports, it is not in anyway compiling names of organisers or protesters on a no-fly list.
The statement notes that citizens have a right to protest, and the requests made by the protesters are being addressed
