Ekiti motorists lament increase in petroleum pump price
Many filling stations in Ado Ekiti, the Ekiti State capital did not open for business today, as Nigerians were thrown into confusion over increment in the pump price of fuel.
Adaba FM’s Tunde Akinlabi who monitored the situation observed that motorists besieged fuel stations in Ado Ekiti in anticipation of yet another season of fuel scarcity.
Motorists were seen scrambling to fill their tanks, amid long queues formed on major fuel stations that opened for business in Ado Ekiti metropolis.
This is coming in the wake of assurance given by the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) that there would be no increase in the pump price of petrol, yet residents of the State engaged in panic buying.
Two motorists Abdulazeez Olaoluwa and Kayode Animashaun who have been on the queue over an hour lamented what they termed artificial scarcity of fuel.
Another motorists Babajide Collins told Adaba FM that his experience has been tormenting, while calling on the government to stop playing on the emotions of the people.
The motorists appealed to the Federal Government and concerned authority to mediate between suppliers and the motorists in order to put an end to the untold hardship of the masses.
