Ekiti lawmakers alert security agencies over threat by suspended speaker

Lawmakers in the Ekiti State House of Assembly has called on Security Agencies in the state to urgently invite and investigate the impeached and suspended Speaker, Gboyega Aribisogan and six others over threats to lives of members.

The call was contained in a Five point Resolution passed at plenary.

The Lawmakers hinged their call on the need to ensure that lives and properties of members and staff are protected due to the recent calls received by members from the impeached Speaker and his cronies.

Other parts of the motion was to make the suspended Speaker to sign an undertaking that nothing untoward will happen to members and that the Resolution be transmitted to the Governor of the State, Mr Biodun Oyebanji for necessary action.

In their various submissions, at the plenary presided by Rt Hon Olubunmi Adelugba, Lawmakers that included the Deputy Speaker, Rt.Hon Hakeem Jamiu, Hon. Adeoye Aribasoye, Hon Deji Ajayi and Hon.Teju Okuyiga expressed support for the passage of the motion.

They said that the suspended Speaker and his cronies have been threatening him despite the fact that he was only performing his constitutional duties as the Deputy Speaker of the House.

The Assembly members called on the security agencies to address the allegation before it gets out of hand.

Meanwhile the erstwhile speaker of Ekiti state House of Assembly Gboyega Aribisogan when contact denied the allegations laid against the suspended seven members of the House.

Mr Aribisogan noted in collaboration with other members suspended has concluded plans to challenge the illegal suspension and impeachment at the court of law.

Also, Mr Tajudeen Akingbolu who is one of the suspended House of Assembly members said that the allegation leveled against them was wrong and just imagination.

He said that the act of the other seventeen members was against the will of Ekiti people and infringement on their rights.
