Ekiti judge describes dispute as ‘inseparable part of living’
The chief judge of Ekiti state, Justice Ayodeji Daramola has described dispute as an inseparable part of living by which everybody pursues happiness.
He however said it is always imperative to resolve dispute in a timeous manner.
Justice Daramola was speaking at the 9th edition of prince Bola Ajibola lecture and national debate competition.
He said there are inadequacies in adversary trial process.
Daramola said the inadequacies inform the gradual shift to what he called alternative dispute resolution.
He said the dispute resolution includes arbitration, negotiation, ombudsman and multi door house.
The chief judge explained further that any competent professional can serve as an arbitrator.
He said the most important qualifications for an arbitrator are impartiality and integrity.
