Court sentences teenager to 3 months in prison for stealing phone

A magistrate court in Jos has sentence a teenager, Umar Shaibu, to three months in prison for stealing mobile phone.

Magistrate, Comfort Pam convicted Shaibu, after he pleaded guilty to the offence of conspiracy and theft.

She added that the sentence would serve as deterrent to others, who would wane to indulge in such act.

However, Pam gave him an option to pay a fine of 3000 for conspiracy or two months in prison and 5000 or three months in prison for theft.
