Court Remands Ekiti Traditional Ruler In Prison Over Alleged murder
A magistrate court sitting in Ado Ekiti has remanded the Olukere of Ikere-Ekiti, Oba Ganiyu Obasoyin over alleged murder.
Adaba FM’s Correspondent Tunde Akinlabi reports that suspected thugs had at the early hours of this morning vandalized the hotel of the monarch over a statement allegedly made by him which they believed was against the interest of a governorship
aspirant who hails from the town.
Two workers of the hotel Alex Olufunmilayo and Adebayo Odunayo told Adaba FM in an interview that trouble started over an argument between two customers at the center of the hotel, which they said resulted in gun shot and stabbing of some guests .
Police Public Relations officer in the state Alberto Adeyemi who confirmed the development also said that one person lost his life in the ensuing crisis.
However, the owner of the hotel, Oba Ganiyu Obasoyin, who is the Olukere of Ikere -Ekiti was later arraigned before a Chief magistrate court in Ado -Ekiti and remanded over alleged murder.
Defence counsel, Mr. Ademola Adeyemi, urged the court to grant the accused person bail.
But Police prosecutor, Johnson Okunade, opposed the bail
application and pleaded that the court granted the remand order as requested.
The trial Magistrate, Adesoji Adegboye refused the bail application and ordered the accused persons to be remanded in prison pending the issuance of legal advice on the case.
Adegboye adjourned the case till 8th of January, 2018.
