Court quashes suspension of four Ondo lawmakers
An Ondo state high court sitting in Akure has ordered the state house of assembly to reinstate deputy speaker, Iroju Ogundeji and two other lawmakers who were recently suspended.
The lawmakers were suspended over alleged misconducts.
In his ruling, Justice Ademola Bola ordered the Ondo state house of assembly to immediately pay all the affected lawmakers their entitlements.
Justice bola also awarded a five million naira damages against the assembly.
The judge held that it is illegal to prevent an elected legislator from representing his/her constituents.
The house of assembly had suspended Iroju Ogundeji, Wale Williams, Favour Tomomewo for refusing to sign the impeachment notice served on deputy governor Agboola Ajayi.
Meanwhile, deputy speaker, Iroju Ogundeji has described the judgement as victory for democracy.
Ogundeji said he expect the house of assembly to obey the court judgement.
