Commuters stranded as Taxi goes on strike in South Africa

Thousands of commuters in Cape Town are stranded as taxi associations embark on a strike in South Africa.

The strike comes amid growing frustrations over the impounding of taxis and dissatisfaction with new taxi laws.
It is expected that members of the majority of the taxi associations in the cape will take part in the strike.
Taxi operators have advised commuters to make alternative arrangements for today.
Provincial minister of transport Donald grant will be meeting with the industry today

However, the South African government has deployed traffic officers to monitor the situation.
