Chadian President Attains Highest Military Rank
The Chad parliament has named the country’s president Idriss Deby as a field marshal.
The honour was given to him during the country’s 60th anniversary celebration of independence from France.
It is the highest military rank in the country.
The parliamentary speaker explained that it was a recognition after he led an offensive against jihadists in April.
The country has been facing attacks from Islamist militants like other neighbours across the Sahel region.
