Cameroon separatist leader gets life sentence

A military court in Yaounde has sentenced a leader of Cameroon’s separatist movement, Sisiku Ayuk, and nine others to life sentence.

They were arrested in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital in 2008 and were sent to Cameroon to face trial.

They have been convicted of various charges, including rebellion.

Tabe and his followers have been campaigning for the creation of an independent state called Ambazonia

There were street protests in 2017 on the issue as over 50,000 people were displaced.
