Buhari departs for London

President Muhammadu Buhari has departed Nigeria for London, United Kingdom.

He left on Tuesday afternoon in one of the jets in the presidential fleet through the Nnamdi Azikwe International Airport, Abuja.

Presidential spokesman, Femi Adesina said the president is expected to see a doctor during his stay in the UK and he is due to be back in the country in the second week of April.

Buhari is embarking on the medical trip at a time members of the Nigerian Association of Resident Doctors have declared their intention to commence a strike on April 1.

The President’s trip also comes a time when the country is bedeviled with many security challenges including insurgency, banditry, kidnapping, amongst others.

Meanwhile, president buhari had asked the security operatives to identify and take out the leaders and sponsors of bandits and kidnappers to restore confidence in the areas affected.

the national security adviser, Major-General Babagana Monguno, made the disclosure after a security meeting, chaired by president Buhari in the state house, Abuja.

He said the president made it clear that the criminals would no longer dictate the tone of security events in the country.

Monguno added that the president insisted that all the decisions approved at the recently held National Security Council meeting, including the ban on mining activities in Zamfara and the no-fly-zone order, remain in force until further notice.

He explained that service chiefs at the security meeting told the president that they have identified weak areas that would be strengthened to appropriately fish out collaborators with non-state actors.
