Benin’s former president Boni Yayi leaves amid political crisis
Former president of Benin Republic Boni Yayi has left the country for Togo on health grounds and other political issues.
However, his representatives said Togo would not be his final destination.
This is coming as political crisis grips the nation following controversial April polls.
Spokesperson for his cowry forces party Noureni Atchade, said Boni Yayi left on Saturday after his health worsened rapidly.
The former leader’s surprise departure came after weeks of tension with president Patrice Talon, which saw Boni Yayi confined to his Northern Benin home.
