Assets declaration: CCB may prosecute 7 ex-commissioners

The Code of Conduct Bureau says about seven former commissioners in the last administration in Enugu state will be prosecuted if they fail to regularize their assets declaration by the end of July.

The Enugu state director of the bureau, Mrs Lucy Ijetta made the disclosure while fielding questions from newsmen.

Ijetta said five special advisers in the state between 2015 and 2019 will also face prosecution by the end of next month for the same offence.

She explained that the affected former commissioners had till the end of July to either regularize their assets declarations having ended their stewardship with the state government or risk prosecution.

Ijetta said out of the 24 commissioners and 15 special advisers that served in the last administration in the state, only 17 former commissioners and 10 special advisers had complied with the regularization rule.
