APC chieftain, Sunday Falae step down in Akure by-election

APC chieftain Sunday Falae has stepped down from the race to fill the vacant Akure South/Akure North House of Representatives seat.

In a statement that he personally signed, Falae says he took the decision because the party prevailed upon him to allow Akure South complete the term of the late Adedayo Omolafe who represented the federal constituency until his death.

He adds that his argument that none of the contenders could lay claim to Akure South more than he did not hold water with the party and as a party man, he had no choice but to do the will of the party.

Sunday Falae says in spite of the huge resources he had committed to the race, he had to step down to allow Akure South complete its tenure and also as a mark of respect to the party leadership.

He adds that Akure must continue to remain one in spite of politics.

He thanks his supporters, party members and the people of Ondo State for their show of love throughout his campaign.
