Akoko South West/East Primary: Court adjourns hearing till July 13
A federal high court sitting in Akure will on July the 13 commence hearing in a suit challenging the emergence of Gboyega Adefarati as APC house of representatives for candidate for Akoko south west/ Akoko south east federal constituency.
One of APC aspirants in the federal constituency, Dr John Adanike had disputed the emergence of Adefarati as the party’s candidate saying the party did not hold any shadow poll in Akoko south east/Akoko southwest.
The presiding judge, justice Demi Ajayi adjourned the matter to July the 13th for hearing after taking an oral application for the commencement of trial from counsel to the petitioner.
Counsel to the petitioner, Sola Ajisafe said his team is ready for the hearing.
Ajisafe said the emergence of Goyega Adefarati contravenes the electoral act.
The petitioner, Dr John Adanike said the he has exhausted options addressing the issue within the party.
Adanike said governor Akeredolu and Adetimehin only embarked on a jamboree in Akure where Adefarati purportedly emerged as the candidate of the party for the federal constituency.
Dr Adanike expressed optimism that the emergence of Gboyega Adefarati will be nullified by the court.
