Akeredolu Signs Violence Against Persons Prohibition Into Law

Ondo State Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu has signed the Violence Against Persons Prohibition 2021 bill into law.

Akeredolu after appending his signature in Akure, said the law was not selective, but for everyone.

He explained that the state was particular about violence against the girl child.

Speaker of the Ondo State House of Assembly Bamidele Oleyelogun noted that the bill was given accelerated hearing for the benefit of all.

He explained that all protocols were duly observed due to the importance of the law.

Facilitator of the law, Mrs Betty Anyanwu-Akeredolu asked for more appointments and opportunities for women.

She explained that the law would protect the girl child and women against all forms of violence against them.

Representative of the International Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA), Mrs Catherine Ogunjobi commended the state assembly for the speedy passage of the bill.
