Akeredolu imposes 24-hour curfew on Ondo community
Protest rocked Igbara Oke the Headquarters of Ifedore local government area of Ondo state over Wednesdays counsellorship election.
The protesters claimed that there was no election whatsoever in ward 1 demanding how the Ondo state Independent Electoral Commission got the results it announced.
Road leading in and out of the town were barricaded and burn fire made.
The protesters were members of the African Democratic Congress.
They faulted what they termed political romance between ODIEC and APC.
ADC Candidate in the election Ojọ Bisola said he wants ODIEC to reschedule another election which will give room for level play ground.
The protesters vowed not to leave the streets until they get justice.
Meanwhile, Ondo State Governor, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu has ordered the imposition of a twenty-four hour curfew on Igbara-Oke, headquarters of Ifedore Local Government Area of the State.
A statement by the governor’s chief press secretary Richard Olatunde says the order is with immediate effect.
This is sequel to the violent dimension of what was initially considered a peaceful protest in the town following the outcome of a Councillorship bye-election.
The statement urges all security agencies to enforce the order.
In the same vein, Traditional Rulers, Opinion Leaders and all persons of goodwill are enjoined to rein in their wards as non-compliance with this curfew order shall not be tolerated.
