Abducted Zamfara school girls regain freedom
The governor of Zamfara state, Bello Matawalle has announced the release of the kidnapped students of government Girls Secondary School, Jangebe.
Police disclosed that the girls were abducted by unidentified gunmen from their boarding school in Jangebe, zamfara state, on Friday and taken to a forest.
The governor confirmed that the girls were now safe adding that they were returned safely without paying any ransom.
The girls arrived at a government building in Zamfara at about 5am today after they were taken there in a fleet of mini-buses.
The state government explained that 279 girls had been freed, adding that a figure given last week by police that 317 had been kidnapped was inaccurate.
