Government to ban new diesel, petrol cars and vans from year 2040
The United Kingdom government says it will ban new diesel, petrol cars and vans from 2040 in a bid to tackle air pollution.
The announcement comes amid signs of an accelerating shift towards electric cars instead of petrol and diesel ones both at home and abroad.
Ministers will also unveil a two hundred and twenty-five million pound fund to help councils tackle emissions from diesel vehicles.
Campaigners say the measures were promising but need more detail.
