UPDATED: Kogi deputy gov. drags assembly to court over impeachment notice

Kogi state deputy governor has filed an application before the state high court in Lokoja challenging the impeachment notice of the state house of assembly.

The suit was filed on ground that the notice was filed late and marred with irregularities.

The court will announce the date for the hearing on the matter.

Earlier this month, APC in the state suspended Mr. Achuba from the party over alleged anti-party activities.

Meanwhile, The house of assembly has requested the state chief judge Justice Nasir Ajanah to constitute a 7-man panel of inquiry against he deputy governor Elder Simon Achuba.

The state assembly wants the panel of inquiry to investigate allegations of gross misconduct against the deputy governor.

The assembly made the request in a resolution reached at the plenary in Lokoja.

This follows the adoption of a motion by the majority leader Abdullahi Bello-Balogun.
