South African former footballer shot dead

Former South Africa footballer Marc Batchelor has been shot dead near his home in Johannesburg.

Batchelor played for Kaizer Chiefs, Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns in South Africa.

A police spokesman Col Lungelo Dlamini said he was attacked by two men who were driving a motorbike

Dlamini disclosed that he was about to drive into his premises when the suspects shot him several times.

He added Batchelor died inside the car and they drove away without taking anything.

The spokesman hinted that they are still investigating what the motive for the attack was and the suspects are yet to be identified.
