Sudan: Military, pro-democracy talks ends in deadlock

The third round of talks between Sudan’s military council and pro-democracy opposition has ended without a deal.

Despite initial indications that an agreement was within reach, differences over the composition of a new ruling body and the threat by the military to clear protesters led to the deadlock in the talks.

The military council said it wants an end to the disruption caused by its sit-in in by thousands of protesters in downtown Khartoum.
