Brexit: Police warns against language that could inflame tensions

Chairman of the National Police Chief Council (NPCC), Martin Hewitt has warned politicians and campaigners against inflaming tensions caused by Brexit in the UK.

The senior police chief indicated that handling the current situation wrongly could incite violence.

He said the police have 10,000 officers ready to deploy at 24 hours’ notice as part of possible no-Brexit preparations.

Hewitt said the NPCC is currently preparing for the worst case scenario.
