102 Nigerians in Chad’s prisons – Embassy
The Nigeria Embassy in Chad has disclosed that over a hundred Nigerians are in the country’s prisons.
Charge d’affaires in the embassy Mr Nasiru Waje gave the figure in N’djamena during a visit with some Nigerian journalists.
Waje said that the Nigerians were held for various offences including smuggling and attempts to use routes in the country to enter Europe.
He stated that 39 of the prisoners had regained freedom following the intervention of the embassy.
Public relations and liaison officer to the minister of defence Colonel Tukur Gusau who led the newsmen said the visit was to acquaint the media with military operations on insurgency.
