Tinubu Applauds Security Agencies for Ending 56-Day Ordeal of Oyo Victims

President Bola Tinubu has expressed joy over the rescue of the abducted pupils and teachers from Oriire community in Ogbomoso, Oyo State.

The President praised the military, the Department of State Services, and the police for securing their release after 56 days and arresting eight suspected kidnappers.

President Tinubu said he regretted the pain suffered by the victims, their families, and the nation during the period of their captivity.

He also commended the Oyo State Government for supporting the rescue operation and urged it to strengthen security around schools.

The President assured Nigerians that those behind the abduction would face justice, including those responsible for the killing of Mr. Oyedokun.

President Tinubu also directed emergency agencies to work with the Oyo State Government to provide medical care and other support for the rescued pupils and teachers.

Meannwhile, the Presidency says eight suspected kidnappers have been arrested following the rescue of the abducted pupils and teachers in Orire Local Government Area of Oyo State.

Presidential spokesman Bayo Onanuga said the suspects are in the custody of the Department of State Services, while some other members of the gang were killed during the operation.

He said no ransom was paid and no concession was made to secure the release of the victims.

Onanuga added that the suspected terrorist kingpin whose release was demanded by the kidnappers remains in custody and is being prosecuted.

The pupils and teachers were abducted on May 15 after gunmen attacked three schools in Orire Local Government Area, killing a teacher during the incident.
