Ondo Police Warn Against Crime During Aheregbe Festival

The Ondo State Police Command is warning against any criminal activities during this year’s Aheregbe Festival in Akure.

In a statement, the Police Public Relations Officer, Ayanlade Olayinka Olushola, says it respects and values the state’s cultural heritage, but insists celebrations must follow the law.

The Commissioner of Police, Adebowale Lawal, says anyone caught using the festival as cover for violence, theft, vandalism, or attacks on people will face the full weight of the law.

Parents and guardians are urged to caution their children to behave responsibly.

The Police Command praised the Deji of Akure, Oba Aladetoyinbo Ogunlade Aladelusi, for preserving the traditions of the kingdom, and thanked the Inspector General of Police and the Ondo State Governor for their support in maintaining peace.

The Command says it will continue working with community leaders to ensure the festival promotes unity, peace, and love without breaking the law.
