FG Drops Case Against Ibom Air Passenger, Appoints K1 as Aviation Ambassador

The Aviation Minister, Festus Keyamo, says the Federal Government has withdrawn the criminal complaint against Ms. Comfort Emmanson over the recent unruly incident on an Ibom Air flight.

Keyamo says the decision follows consultations with aviation stakeholders, appeals from concerned Nigerians, and remorse shown by the passenger.

He explains that police will now take steps to secure Ms. Emmanson’s release from prison this week, and that the Airline Operators of Nigeria have agreed to lift her lifetime flying ban.

The minister also announced that Fuji musician Wasiu Ayinde will have his flight ban reduced to one month.

He says KWAM 1 will also serve as an ambassador for proper airport security protocols, while pilots involved in the ValueJet incident will have their licenses restored after a one-month suspension.

Keyamo adds that the decisions were taken on compassionate grounds but stressed that safety and security in the aviation sector remain a top priority.
