Federal Government to sign MOU to plant 25 billion trees in Nigeria
The Federal Government is set to sign a Memorandum of Understanding with a consortium comprising the Dalberg Group and Campo Group as part of its Green Legacy Programme.
This development was revealed during a meeting between Vice President, Kashim Shettima and representatives of the consortium on the sidelines of the United Nations Food Systems Summit in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
The consortium, which previously supported Ethiopia’s success in planting 46 billion trees, will collaborate with Nigeria to achieve its own goal of planting 25 billion trees.
Vice President Shettima expressed optimism, saying Nigeria could begin with 10 billion trees, citing the Ethiopian model as inspiration.
He described the initiative as ambitious but achievable with the right experience and commitment.
