Nationwide Strike: Labour leaders shut down govt offices, private businesses in Ekiti
The Labour leaders in Ekiti State have shut down government offices and private businesses in line with the nationwide strike declared by the national body of the union.
Led by NLC Chairman Mr. Olatunde Kolapo and TUC Secretary Mr. Yomi Peters, the organised labour visited the State Secretariat and several banks, compelling staff who had not complied with the strike to leave their posts.
Comrade Kolapo and Yomi Peters expressed that the strike would continue until the government addressed their demands.
They stated that the strike became imperative due to the way the government is handling the negotiation process for the new minimum wage.
Also, the Chairman of the Joint Health Sector Union, Comrade Femi Ajoloko, enforced the strike at the Federal Teaching Hospital in Ido Ekiti.
