Court Halts Gov. Adeleke from Removing Osun CJ

The National Industrial Court sitting in Ibadan, Oyo State has restrained Osun state Governor senator Ademola Adeleke from removing the Chief Judge of the state Justice Adepele Ojo.

Justice Ojo in a motion experte filed by her counsel, Oladipo Olasope, sought for order restraining defendants by themselves or their agents from interfering with, removing, reversing or terminating the appointment and conditions of service of the Chief Judge of Osun State.

Justice Adepele Ojo had filed a suit against Governor Adeleke, Attorney General, Judicial Service Commission and Accountant General of the State.

In his rulings justice Dele Peters who granted the chief judge an interim injunction also stated that the government should continuing paying the salary, entitlements, emoluments, remuneration, and other benefits and money the claimant is entitled to as the Chief Judge of the State pending the determination of the interlocutory application

Justice Peters therefore adjourned the case to 12th of December.

Earlier, the spokesperson of coalition of Civil Society organizations in the state, Ayo Ologun had earlier addressed journalists alleging the state Governor, Ademola Adeleke of plot to remove the Chief Judge.

In his reaction, Osun state Commissioner for Information and Public enlightenment Kolapo Alimi in a statement said the state governor has no intention to remove the Chief Judge.
