Oyebanji threatens to shut down station hoarding fuel

Ekiti state governor, Biodun Oyebanji has threatened the total shutdown of filling stations caught hoarding fuel or selling above accessible rates to the people.

The warning was as a result of the activities of some fuel marketers in the state shutting down their filling stations a day after the inauguration of new administration in the country.

Oyebanji at a meeting with the fuel marketers at his office in Ado Ekiti said that the activities of the marketers are undermining the efforts of the government and as well inflicting pains on the masses.

He directed the state petroleum taskforce to move round the town and clamp down on any filling station hoarding fuel and selling above normal price.

In view of this the governor also ordered the closure of a filling station selling at 600 hundred naira per litre in Ado Ekiti

The spokesperson of the Association of Petroleum marketers Mr. Isaac Shedowo, assured the governor that the union will swing into action immediate to ensure that all filling stations having fuel in the state sell to the people.

The fuel marketers also assured of their support to the planned removal of the fuel subsidy as announced by the president, Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

At the meeting it was agreed that no filling stations in the state should sell above Two hundred and fifty naira.
