Police rescue couple from kidnappers’ den

The Anti-kidnaping squad of the Osun state police command has rescued a couple that was kidnapped few days ago on their way to vigil while one of the kidnappers was killed.

The victims were abducted on Friday night on their way to vigil on a motorcycle along Osogbo/Kelebe/Iragbiji road by some unknown gunmen.

While speaking to journalists in Osogbo the Couple identified as Mr&Mrs Jonah said the perpetrators of the crime blocked the road with a log of wood, while the motorcycle that carried them suddenly ran into the barricade.

They said the kidnappers took them to an unknown bush, demanding for 30 million naira ransom

The couple further explained that the kidnappers fled when they heard a gunshot giving them the opportunity to run away from the bush

The police spokesperson Yemisi Opalola hinted that one of the kidnappers was killed by the police while others are at large.

Opalola noted that effort is on to arrest others at large reiterating that the police will not rest on its oar until the state becomes a safe haven for the residents
